Comment on SMS Tax in Pakistan
Government of Pakistan imposed 20paisa tax on each SMS in budget 2009-10, which is till not accepted by any Telecome Company. In my opinion this SMS tax is imposed by government to stop negative propaganda about government. I think government can not stop this by imposing this tax but it will affect revenue of Telecom Companies.

We should not crticize every thing of government. I think government has the right to do the decisions. this is is democracy if they do wrong decisions they will be defeated in next election. You should start a blog about the Electricity theft by Mushaarf, Soomro, Nadeem Taj in their farm houses. which is in billions? who will gave them punishment??
I am not in favor of this tax and govt should not impossed such taxes which are going to pass over to consumers.. We should have a freedom to express our views and if govt will do good work we will all apreceate their positive work and Govt will not face any negative propoganda.

telecom companies are private and if they want they can claim for tht.. as thisn isnt fair.. we thought communication was being cheaper for our convinience despite the fact however we youngsters use it.. this isnt a fair action

i not fever too this act of govt. first of all govt has to paly the role great n great imagee too all the country soo no 1 can critcice them.

well, i dont think so that 20 paisa increment as SMS Tax can reduce negative SMSs against Govt and this is very illogical reasoning.
accrd to Shaukat tareeen in yesterdays Capital Talk the reason behind it that we discussed with telecom representatives and they told us there is 10 billion SMSs traffic per anum so it would be profitable if Govt Add tax on SMSs.
Ishaq Dar suggested Shaukat Tareen not to Directly get involved in that SMS tax thing but if the companies are getting revenue from SMSs than Let the companies pay Tax for this.
now, when company needs to pay tax they will indirectly increase rates of SMSs Charges.

I personally feel that Pakistani Nation is the unique nation on the globe which has distrust on its political leaders/amongst themselves from the begginning and always busy to let down their leaders, its very unfortunate situation, I think this could be the only reason that we couldn't develop as a nation and our poor people are sufferring and now they are fighting for their existence. Shoukat Tareen told Zardari that you are insulted through text messages so cheaply, why not impose tax on SMS so that you and your govt. might get insulted a little costly :))
Zardari liked Shoukat Tareen's idea and he imposed a tax of 20 paisa/sms so that he can be a little costly to be insulted by SMSs.
So guys if now you have to send anything against him and his govt. its not gonna be 500 sms/Rs. 3 :) You'll have to pay a tax of 20 Paisa on each Insult you make.
Note: Insult should not exceed 160 characters or 20 paisa additional will be charged.

I think that there is no sense in imposing a tax on sms to stop violence against whoever so. wrong doers are not discouraged by these small actions. they disturb only those like us who are innocent. I would not like this tax to be imposed as my daily chat with my loved ones would be stopped and it will then be a huge loss to zong and other companies

I'm in favour of tax but it should be reduced to 10 paisa. Governent may earn same amount of revenue and users will not feel thhe burden.
Most of us know how many junk and embarassing and frustrating messages keep coming. With the tax the number of such nonsense messages will get reduced.

Saad it wont affect telecom it will increase revenue the way i see it,
as u now imagine Sms is a lifeline for every body to leave it now would be impossible
every correspondce and communication is done by it
this is something what i thing
Goverment did it right because it was becoming a menace for teenagers

Yes we are in a situation of war and We all also just want to get rid of dumy sms. Personally i feel that all telecom companies must charge Rs. 2 / SMS.

I have read all the comments, and would only ask dear readers if some one can write to the letter to the editor in "DAWN" "THE NEWS" and leading Urdu newspaper regarding this, isn't the govt already taking income tax/sales tax and other taxes from the bills, why more, it is time as one commented atleast you can remain in contact with your family members. Remember by increasing taxes govt cannot finish the vulgarity and abuses. Please do good for the masses a request to the govt. Hello any sane person reading this.

Bohat logo ne apne opinions de diye. Meray opinion me ye tax theek nae hai. Me US me rehti hu n yaha pe mujhay text msgs mhngay prtay hai qk incoming b charge hota hai. Jub me apnay frnds se sunti thi pk me itnay sastay tou dil ko itni khushi milti thi pk jo US se kahi guna peechay hai taraqqi me usme itna sasta but ab mujhay ye sun k kaafi dukh hua k pk gov tax barha rahi hai. Gov tax batorti tou bht hai but then ye sub paisa kaha jata haii???? If tax lagana hai tou lagao but only then when that tax is beneficial for the common people like us.
